Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) – Independent Prescriber Cambridge-Based Practice ( 4 Days per Week )

Granta Medical Practices is seeking an experienced and motivated Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) to join our friendly, forward-thinking and supportive team. This role will be based across two of our sites in Royston and Sawston.

We are looking for a highly skilled clinician with Independent Prescribing qualification and substantial experience in minor illness and acute care management within a primary care setting.

Working Pattern:

· Monday: 8:00am – 6:00pm (Royston)

· Tuesday: 8:00am – 6:00pm (Royston)

· Wednesday: 8:00am – 6:00pm (Royston)

· Friday: 8:00am – 6:00pm (Sawston)

Salary is competitive and negotiable depending on qualifications and experience.

You will work as part of our multidisciplinary team, delivering high-quality, evidence-based care to patients requiring same-day and urgent assessment. The role involves autonomous clinical practice including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, prescribing, and referral where appropriate.

Job Title: Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) Location: Royston & Sawston Reporting To: Clinical Lead Hours: 38 hours per week

Job Purpose

To provide autonomous, high-quality, evidence-based clinical care to patients presenting with acute, minor illness, and urgent medical needs. The post holder will work as part of the on-the-day duty team and within the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, effective, and responsive patient care.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Practice

· Undertake autonomous assessment of patients presenting with acute and minor illness.

· Perform comprehensive history taking and physical examinations.

· Diagnose, treat, and manage patients within own scope of competence.

· Independently prescribe in accordance with current legislation and best practice.

· Order, interpret, and act upon appropriate diagnostic investigations.

· Refer patients appropriately to GPs, secondary care, or allied health professionals.

· Safely discharge patients with clear safety-netting advice.

· Maintain accurate, contemporaneous clinical records.

Professional Responsibilities

· Practice in accordance with the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) Code.

· Work within agreed practice protocols and clinical governance frameworks.

· Maintain professional registration and mandatory training requirements.

· Demonstrate ongoing commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

· Participate in clinical audit, service development, and quality improvement initiatives.

Team Working

· Contribute to effective multidisciplinary team working.

· Support colleagues and act as a clinical role model where appropriate.

· Participate in practice meetings and relevant clinical forums.

· Contribute to service development in line with organisational strategy.

*Person Specification*

Essential

· First Level Registered Nurse (RGN/RMN) with current NMC registration.

· MSc (or equivalent) in Advanced Clinical Practice.

· Independent Nurse Prescriber qualification.

· Significant experience in primary care.

· Demonstrable experience managing minor illness and acute presentations.

· Ability to work autonomously within defined scope of practice.

· Evidence of ongoing CPD.

· Excellent communication and clinical decision-making skills.

Desirable

· Experience working within a GP on-the-day/duty team model.

· Experience using primary care clinical systems.

· Participation in audit or quality improvement work.
